Health

Those who follow a plant based diet have a lower risk of Cardiac disease, Type 2 Diabetes, and Cancer.  Anytime we replace meat, diary, or eggs with healthy plant based options, we are moving in the right direction.

To reduce our risk of disease we need to eat less cholesterol and saturated fat and have more fiber.

Cholesterol is only found in animal products, and animal products are the primary source of saturated fat.

Fiber is only found in plants.

Only 12% of our calories come from plant foods, and even half of those are things like French fries, potato chips, and other plant foods that are used to make unhealthy processed products.

Let's Start With Our Kids

With nearly 7 out 10 adults overweight or obese, getting kids started on the right track is more important than ever.

Taste preferences are developed in childhood so exposing children to healthy food is an important step for starting them on a life time of good health.

50% of children between the ages of 2 - 15 already have fatty streaks in their arteries.

US DIETARY GUIDELINES

One of Four Major Findings:

“Eat less cholesterol and saturated fat, and eat more fiber”

Our dietary guidelines which are the basis of food policy, encourage a more plant-based diet, that emphasizes all the categories of plant foods, including beans.

Cholesterol is only found in animal products, and animal products are the primary source of saturated fat in the diet. And fiber is only found in plant foods.

The recommendation from our doctors and our government is eat less animal foods and eat more plant foods.

Many diseases can be helped by a plant-based diet. Whether a person wants to adopt a fully plant-based diet or not, moving in this direction is a good idea for all of us, the more we go in that direction, the more benefits we see.
